He has packed Charlotte Brontë's novel "Jane Eyre" into powerful images and found a grandiose leading actress with Mia Wasikowska (the Alice from "Alice in Wonderland"). She plays the strong-willed title heroine Jane, who - 18 years young, poor and inconspicuous - a job as a governess on the estate Thornfield. Quickly she feels drawn to the idiosyncratic host Edward Rochester (also great: Michael Fassbender) - and he to her. So much so that he surprised Jane one day with a marriage proposal.
