Isi & Ossi: First German Netflix movie goes into production
Starting shot for the first German Netflix film: Director and screenwriter Oliver Kienle ("Bad Banks") will realize a Young Adult comedy for the streaming service in cooperation with X Filme Creative Pool ("Babylon Berlin"). Filming has now started shooting in Berlin and Baden-Württemberg until mid-June, Netflix announced.
In "Isi & Ossi" meet the Heidelberg billionaire daughter Isi (Lisa Vicari, 22, "Dark") and the destitute boxer Ossi (Dennis Mojen, 26, "dream factory") from Mannheim to each other. Both see the chance to use each other for their own purposes: Isi wants to annoy her parents with Ossi as a date, Ossi wants the well-heeled daughter to pull the money out of his pocket and finance his first professional fight. Their plans end in an emotional chaos, in which both have to reconsider their attitude to money, career and money properly.
Two more German productions in planning
The film will then be available in the first quarter of next year at Netflix. In February, the streaming service had announced that Fans 2020 may enjoy two more German films. "Concrete Gold" is about three young scammers, played by David Kross (28), Frederick Lau (29) and Janina Uhse (29), who fall into an absurd chaos of lies and deceit through a home-made real estate bubble. "Freaks", in the cast is Tim Oliver Schultz (30), tells a dystopian superhero story. Before the three films Netflix 2017 had already produced the first German original series: On June 21, the second season of "Dark" will be available.
