Tamara does not know in "Revenge" how she can escape her pimp. Alex already. But at what price?

Life in the city looks very different. Tamara (Irina Potapenko) comes from Russia, has a lot of debt and no money. Together with other girls, she sells her body to her suitors every night. However, her pimp recognizes her "talent" and wants to sell her to his most important customers as a noble prostitute. His stooge Alex (Johannes Krisch), however, has other plans: He fell in love with Tamara and wants to leave Vienna with her. In order to procure the necessary change, he attacks a bank - in the truest sense of the word surefire plan: The waiting in the car Tamara is shot while fleeing by a police officer.

Idyllic country life?

Before the "revenge": Vorstadtidyll in Austria

Robert (Andreas Lust) and his wife Susann have just moved into their newly built house in an idyllic suburban location. Nestled in meadows and forests, the two are missing for perfect happiness actually only one thing: a child. But that does not really work. Her small, already cracked, perfect world gets completely out of jointwhen Robert is called to the police station and learns that he shot a woman. From this day threaten his guilt not only to destroy his life, but also that of his wife.

The events are getting worse

Alex is close to collapse after Tamaras death. His impending arrest, he defies his grandfather in the countryside, where he finds shelter. There he goes diligently to the old man, to whom only his accordion has remained after the death of his wife: he chops wood, shops, reaps the ripe winter apples. Robert's wife comes every Sunday Susanne (Ursula Strauss) over to take the old man to church. Susanne does not suspect that Alex is about to sneak up on Robert, the murderer of his lover. To make matters worse Susanne also starts an affair with Alex. Will Alex put his revenge plan into action?

"Revanche" at the Academy Awards

Director Götz Spielmann has shot a movie with revenge that could not have been more realistic. He comes close to his characters, so that one sometimes thinks that you can grab Alex by the collar and once shake through properly, to wake him from his reveries of a better life. The great themes of human existence such as love, death, the longing for a stable, happy life, and revenge on those who try to take our happiness, are masterfully processed in "Revenge." The result is a unique, difficult-to-describe mood in this film, a calm that is so full of tension, as if the worst could happen at any moment. Contributing significantly to the excellent actor who present their roles very sensitively and with great skill. "Revenge" has already won numerous prizes at various festivals and will be present at the Academy Awards 2009 for Austria go into the race.
