Some make it easy, others have a hard time. Weight loss works differently for everyone, depending on motivation, discipline and diet concept. But for some it seems to be hopeless. "I just do not take off," they complain and also have the appropriate explanation or apology at the ready. Five claims that are in circulation most often - and what's up.

"The hormones are to blame."

Hormones have a big impact on the figure: they regulate when the feeling of hunger sets in and determine which parts of the body fat is attached to. But you are not helpless.

If you feel you are always hungry, you should check your diet: Are there enough satiated people like protein-rich foods and vegetables on it? Are three meals regularly eaten? Even these two points are important in order not to let the hormones out of control.

Also, a hypofunction of the thyroid gland can slow down the metabolism and make losing weight difficult. Last but not least, hormonal changes during menopause cause women to gain weight more easily. But even that does not mean that losing weight is impossible - with exercise can bring the metabolism back on track.



"The many diets have messed up my body."
