House of Cards: With Kevin Spacey, the process is extremely short

"I thought everyone loves a widow?" With these words in the first few minutes of the final "House of Cards" season, which can be seen completely on Sky since November 2, Robin Wright (52) alias Claire Underwood makes so much clear. But above all, how casually the death of Kevin Spacey's character Frank Underwood is being served to the viewers in a conversation with her new vice president.

In the run-up, they had already figured out how effectively the series creators could divorce the former protagonist from the serial life. But nothing came of it, the ex-president is mousetot from the first second of the new episodes. His face is not even shown in pictures of his funeral that has already taken place. But that does not mean that he does not matter anymore.

So many suspects

Much of the last eight episodes address the question of why Underwood blessed time just one day after Claire took office in season five. In fact, it turns out to be a big mystery. His once-right hand Doug Stamper (Michael Kelly, 49) is told that Frank died of an accidental overdose of the medication he had to take because of his donor liver - which had led to a fatal heart attack. Of course, Doug does not want to believe in a mistake.

Was it suicide? Was it murder? The latter seems to think just Claire Underwood, Doug's main suspects behind the act. "A man like Francis does not just die, that would come ... what's the word for it, too pleasing?" Says the President, finding her dead husband's wedding ring.

At least she evidently suspects two figures who had not appeared in the squadrons before: Annette (Diane Lane, 53) and Bill Shepherd (Greg Kinnear, 55), who had some bills left with Francis "Frank" Underwood and So now Claire to take the duty.

"Do you miss him?"

So far, Spacey had always addressed directly to the audience in front of the TV. This role will now be given to Wright - and how. Asked to all Frank and inevitably to all remaining Spacey fans, she asks, "Are you still there? Missing Francis? The thing is, no matter what Francis has told you all over the past five years, not a single one believes Word of it, everything will be different between you and me, I'll tell you the truth. " His truth probably just diverged from theirs.
