House Aarnhoog: Sylter Wellness

Wellness? I am sceptical. Neither fan of massages nor keen on beauty treatments, the concept does not really appeal to me. This is exactly the opposite with my wife. But Haus Aarnhog looks very inviting, at least on the internet. You also have to get involved in something new. So packed bags and off to the train to Sylt.

"Too bad that I have no children with me"I think, as I enter the "family suite" in the house Aarnhog. Instead of a nursery, the suite has an extra floor for younger vacationers, including alcoves. In general, the house is very versatile: The rooms and suites entice with individual highlights such as spacious terraces, nostalgic furnishings or a fireplace. As a technology fetishist I especially like the designer stereo in our suite and that the bedroom has an extra TV. Not that I'm here to watch, but nice to know he's here.

But the real surprise comes only when I look at the rest of the hotel - the cozy thatched roof cottages are all connected underground and lead to the noble designed spa. Skilfully placed light wells and a large glass dome above the pool give the view upwards and ensure that it is still bright and friendly down below. Very convenient - In this way I live somehow at the same time in a cozy pension and a large luxury hotel. And when it rains you can go to breakfast with a dry foot.

But the breakfast is of course much nicer with sun on the large terrace, where I stay with my newspaper and test myself by the large buffet offer. Gradually also inspired by the wellness idea, I make myself comfortable in the garden with a book, from my couch I can occasionally hear the sea. Here I can endure it wonderfully, while my wife lets herself be pampered underground with wellness and beauty treatments.

In the evening we will visit the beach again, which is only a few minutes walk away and then enjoy delicious fish specialties. When I finally fall into the softer than soft beds, I have no interest in first and second TVs. Wellness? I'm excited!
