Game of Thrones: This star can be seen in the prequel

HBO has found its star for the planned Game of Thrones award. Naomi Watts (50, "Mulholland Drive"), who has twice been nominated for an Oscar, is expected to play an important role in the pilot, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The project is by screenwriter and writer Jane Goldman (48) and George R.R. Martin (70), who provided the book templates for "Game of Thrones" with "The Song of Ice and Fire".

The new story will also play in the Westeros universe, but several thousand years before the events of "Game of Thrones". As in the original series, many scenes and characters will be the focus of the plot. In addition, the "Age of Heroes" mentioned by Martin in his book "The Song of Ice and Fire" should be shown, which, according to the novel, took place 10,000 years before Jon Snow and Co. So it's quite possible that fans will see with their own eyes how the Night Watch Wall was built or how House Stark and House Lennister were founded.

The new series describes the descent of the world from the golden age of the heroes into their darkest hour, it said in advance. Only one thing is for sure: From the horrifying secrets of the Westeros story to the true origin of the White Wanderers to the Starks: "It's not the story we think we know." The final season of "Game of Thrones" will air in 2019.

More spin-offs are planned

Martin is happy to announce his commitment to Watts on his site "georgerrmartin.com". "I could not be more excited, welcome to Westeros, Naomi," wrote the author. He also said that some other prequels are in development.
