Fort Boyard: Everything worth knowing about the TV comeback
It starts again! After a break of more than seven years, Sat.1 shows new episodes of the game show "Fort Boyard" on German television from 5 September (8:15 pm). The four teams, each consisting of five celebrities, face different tasks and each earn money for a good cause. The special in "Fort Boyard" are the spectacular challenges, in which the candidates physically and psychologically have to go to their limits: "Here exist only the sportiest, the bravest and the hardest," explains moderator Matthias Killing (38) before broadcasting the first Broadcast. In "Fort Boyard" also in the newest season concentrated celebrity power. Of course not all at once. For the start on September 5, Sarah Lombardi (25), Nina Moghaddam (37), Jochen Schropp (39), Julius Brink (36) and Ross Antony (44) are left to their fate. A week later, Mario Basler (49), Sarah Knappik (31), Jürgen Milski (54), Carina Spack (21) and David Odonkor (34) face the challenges. On the 19th and 26th of September Oliver Pocher (40), Fabian Hambüchen (30), Evil Jared (47), Fernanda Brandão (34), Jessica Paszka (28) and Thorsten Legat (49), Sebastian Fobe will be there (32), Linda Hesse (31), Evelyn Burdecki (29) and Eloy de Jong (45) the honor.
Since when is "Fort Boyard" available on German television?
It is only the fifth season of the game show, which is now shown on German television. It started almost 30 years ago, in 1990. At that time Sat.1 also adapted the new format from France for the local television. Only ten years later, from 2000 to 2002, the sister station ProSieben showed two more seasons. The most recent edition of "Fort Boyard" was on the smaller channel kabel eins in early 2011. Celebrities did not participate until the second season. Originally, the concept was developed in France and now marketed in more than 33 countries. So far, an incredible 1,700 individual programs have been produced, all with a similar concept that has only been adapted and modernized over the years. In Sweden, for example, "Fort Boyard" is an absolute cult and spectator magnet. There are regularly more than 50 percent market shares. By the way: In 2009, the American actress Eva Longoria (43) took part in the French version of the show and took home with her team 22,340 euros. In many countries, however, no celebrities compete against each other, where everyone can apply to participate.
What is Fort Boyard for a building and where is it?
The Fort Boyard is actually a military fortress off the French Atlantic coast in the department of Charente-Maritime. The impressive building is 61 meters long, 31 meters wide and has a height of 20 meters. Under Napoleon was begun in 1801 with the construction work. Completely completed, the fort was not completed until 1857. It never had real military benefits and was later even converted into a prison. The German Air Force even used the fort as a target for exercises during the Second World War. Meanwhile, it is owned by the responsible department and also serves as a popular movie set.
