European Film Award: This is the best streak

The European Film Academy has named the Polish film "Cold War" by Pawel Pawlikowski (61) the best European film of the year. At the gala in Seville Pawlikowski was also honored as the best director and screenwriter, the award for best actress won Joanna Kulig (36) - also for "Cold War". The film tells the love story between the pianist Wiktor (Tomasz Kot) and the singer Zula (Kulig) over a period of almost 20 years.

The award for Polish actress Kulig also meant that Marie Bäumer (49, "3 days in Quiberon"), also nominated in this category, was left empty-handed. The trophy for the best European actor won Marcello Fonte (40) for his role in "Dogman". Best comedy was "The Death of Stalin". Carmen Maura (73) received an award for her life's work, and British star Ralph Fiennes (55, "Grand Budapest Hotel") was also honored for his "contribution to the world cinema".
