Ed Sheeran: Police investigate newt case

Musician Ed Sheeran (27, "Shape of You") and environmentalists - things are not going well! The police and some community workers paid a visit to his estate in Suffolk, a county northeast of London on the English East Coast. As the Daily Mail further reports, the operation was probably needed because construction on two ponds on the four-building site - also known as Sheeranville - could have disturbed a rare newt, the crested newt.

After the emergency services had found no evidence that an offense had been committed in connection with the protected species, they left the area again. Whether the animals ever lived there is obviously unclear. The British musician had not been questioned. Worried neighbors had informed the authorities in advance. According to the news threatened with an offense against the rare wild animals up to a half year imprisonment or a fine of 5000 pounds (equivalent to about 5600 euros).

It is not the first environmental conflict Ed Sheeran was involved in. At the end of June, after months of discussion, an open-air concert by the musician in Düsseldorf had been canceled, among other things because 104 trees should have been cut down for the performance.
