Duchess Kate: She wins litigation over Topless Photos

In 2012, paparazzi photographed Duchess Kate (36) with the Sun Band in southern France. In the pictures, the wife of Prince William (36) wore only a bikini panties. The French clapper "Closer" printed the topless photos. The British royal family responded indignantly and with a message. In 2017, a court had already awarded damages to the British royals. However, opposition was raised. Now the judgment has been confirmed in second instance.

The appeals court in Versailles, near Paris, confirmed the penalties from the previous year, as various media report consistently. According to this, two managers of "Closer" each have to pay 45,000 euros, the two paparazzi 5,000 euros. The magazine was also sentenced to pay the royal couple 100,000 euros in damages, much less than the required 1.5 million. With the compensation of 100,000 euros, Kate and William were already satisfied in 2017.

The French prosecutor told the court: "There was an absolutely unacceptable violation, not only in the privacy and privacy of these two persons, but also in terms of the dignity of a woman."
