Art cologneFrom the 22nd to the 26th of April the city on the Rhine is in an art-fever. Pictures, sculptures, videos, installations, photographic works, combinations of everything - Hall 11 of the Cologne Fair gives a good overview of the current diversity of the art world these days. There are 180 galleries from all over the world (www.artcologne.de). New: Reclams city guides Architecture and Art for Cologne (Reclam Verlag, 7,80 Euro).

Gallery tips for Cologne:

Total voluntary mandatory date: a visit to Cologne's model galerist Gisela Capitain (Tel. 02 21/35 57 01 00, St. Apern Straße 20-26, www.galerie-capitain). Continue to Galerie Buchholz, which can be reached through the book and paper antique shop (Neven- DuMont-Straße 17, Tel. 02 21/257 49 46, www.galeriebuchholz.de). Out of town, Galerie Nagel shows mainly video installations (Richard-Wagner-Straße 28, Tel. 02 21/257 05 91, www.galerie-nagel.de), and Figge von Rosen, a versatile gallery, presents modern, multi-level international works from (Aachener Straße 65, Tel. 02 21/27 05 68 40, www.figgevonrosen.com). Remote but exciting: the rooms of ads 1a, an old substation from the 70s, which was expanded to become an artists' cube.
