Club der rote Bänder: That's what fans of Timur Bartel's comeback can expect

A leader, a second leader, a pretty, a sly, the good spirit and the girl - these people need every club. The young hospital patients Leo, Jonas, Alex, Toni, Hugo and Emma do not know that they are the perfect cast. How they finally find themselves as a clique and found the "Red Ribbon Club", the film tells "Club of the Red Ribbons - How it all began," which starts on February 14 in the cinema and thus the history of the successful VOX series supplies.

Timur Bartels (23, "The Specialists - In the name of the victims") had to say goodbye to his role Alex after Season 1 and celebrates in the prequel now made a comeback on the big screen. Why the fans of the series will understand his role Alex only after the movie, he tells in an interview with the news agency spot on news.

In season 1 of "Club of the Red Ribbons" died your role Alex. How was it for you to go back for the movie?

Timur Bartels: Finishing the movie was a great pleasure for me after the three seasons. I was able to give Alex a whole new page. Of course it was a small challenge to tell the prehistory and to return from the development of the figure to the beginning.

What do the "CdrB" fans learn about your role?

Bartels: The first impression of Alex in the first season was that of an arrogant, angry boy, the other down and always has something to moan. But no child is born an asshole and there is always a reason why someone is the way he is. After the movie you will understand what Alex had to do badly in his past and why he became this boy.

Why was a movie suitable, why not another season of the series for a comeback?

Bartels: The Red Ribbon Club is the first hospital series to focus exclusively on the patients. Thus, a story is quickly enumerated if it is to remain authentic. Because either the patients get well or they die. The life with the disease begins even before the time in the hospital and we tell in the movie.

The expectations of the fans are high after the success of the series. How did you deal with this during the filming?

Bartels: The story of the "Red Ribbon Club" has influenced my life a lot and I also have close contact with author Albert Espinosa. It's a true story and regardless of the expectations of viewers or critics, it was incredibly important to me to play them as authentically as possible.

The club members had little joint shooting time. Was not it a pity?

Bartels: Yeah, the movie is about the pre-season before Season 1, so the characters do not really know each other, but they still meet. But there are some scenes in which we were all together and of course had a lot of fun.

The leader, the second leader, the pretty, the good spirit: Under what name would you have landed yourself in the club of the red bands?

Bartels: Good question. The good spirit I think would be nice, but the pretty is not bad either, right?

Has club time changed your view of life?

Bartels: Definitely! I have made many encounters with the sick or relatives of the deceased through the club. I was in hospices, on pediatric cancer ward and even at the funeral of a fan I met and got to know. You learn through history what is really important in life. To really live health, family, friends and every day in life.

They have not only been shooting lately but have also trained for "Dancing on Ice". What do you take with you from the time on the ice?

Bartels: I've spent four intense months between professional athletes competing in competitions like World Championships and Olympics. A movie set is very much about the actors. The life of an athlete is not only physically exhausting, but also mental. You learn discipline, perseverance and optimism. Time has given me not only nice friendships but also a lot for my life.
