Christian Bale: There is not a single gram left of his role as Dick Cheney

For his roles Christian Bale (44) is known to go through thick and thin. In 2004, for example, he lost 30 kilos as a normal weight person in order to be able to portray "Der Maschinist" as a downsized factory worker suffering from insomnia. In his latest film "Vice" it went in the opposite direction: For the embodiment of former US Vice President Dick Cheney (76), Bale fed 20 pounds overweight.

But Christian Bale is just as good at making himself back again. Just a few months after closing time, on Thursday, November 28th, he was as slender as ever at the Netflix premiere of "Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle", and his hair was full.

The biopic on Cheney, who is considered to be the most powerful vice president in US history, is set to act from 2001 to 2009. Bale's rich nutrition is said to have consisted of lots of cake, salted steaks with gravy and whiskey before shooting started. Bale is willing to put up with playing for the authenticity of a character's health. The hoped for wampe was not long in coming. So he is hardly recognizable in the already published trailer. Visibly aged and with thinning hair, the transformation artist comes terrifyingly close to the original.

By the way, his full physical commitment pays off: he is considered a big favorite in the category "Best Actor" for this year's Oscars. He was awarded a coveted award in 2011 for his supporting role in "The Fighter".
