Cheap meat, garbage mountains and fine dust - can we still grill with a clear conscience?

Whether in the park, in the garden or at the street party: Grilling is an integral part of the summer. And it is simply wonderful: Under the open sky, we sizzle something delicious, we can talk, enjoy the summer mood and just spend a great time.

But how carefree can you actually turn a sausage in the smoke today? After all, there are a lot of religious wars going on around the kettle grill - and so some dogmas can come together.

The bad conscience grills with

"You are grilling with charcoal? Think of the fine dust pollution!" - "How can you only eat wrapped neck steak for 1.99 Euro?" - "Disposable dishes? That's not possible!"

Yes, there are enough things that go wrong in our society. It happens Umweltsauereien, animal cruelty, ruthlessness. But do we have to let the fun on the cozy barbecue evening with friends take away? Why can not we all just think for ourselves and act to the best of our knowledge and belief?

Each as he likes

Of course it is annoying when you stumble after the barbecue evening in the park over huge garbage mountains home. But there is an antidote that anyone can use: just take their own garbage home (or at least to the nearest container) - if we all do that, there will be no more garbage in parks the morning after.

And this constant discussion, what is allowed on the grill and what not - vegan, vegetarian, fair organic meat or cheap sausage? Let everyone eat what he wants! Yes, it's a mess, which happens in many animal breeding stations (the wordplay was unobserved, but fits well) - but do we have to spoil our neighbor between embers and herbal baguette with a lecture on animal welfare the appetite? After all, everyone has to know what's on his plate, right?

Do we want to exchange views or discuss?

As I said: In the world there is a lot in the bad and some of it can be seen as a symptom during a cozy barbecue - but do we really want to depress the mood with world improvement discussions? Or is not it rather that we can not change anything on our picnic blanket anyway - except maybe the mood in the round?

So let's enjoy life while having a barbecue! Those who like to grill vegan, makes that easy, who likes to bring a washed out jam jar instead of plastic cups, does that too - maybe we can achieve much more than role models, as we can create as complaining world improvers. How did Mahatma Gandhi say? "Be yourself the change that you desire for this world!"

By the way: If you now feel like having a nice barbecue evening, you will find our favorite barbecue recipes here - and yes, we also have recipes for vegetarian barbecue! Further suggestions can be found on our Pinterest pin board.
