Can I keep the Riester contract despite unemployment?

I am (41) recently unemployed and will soon get ALG 1. What do I do now with my Riester contract?

Helma Sick answers: Even as unemployed, you are eligible and receive the state allowances. The contribution depends on the gross income in the previous year. In the coming year, the unemployment benefit will be used. You can also interrupt or reduce the contribution payment for the duration of unemployment. However, you will not receive the state allowance or - with a reduced contribution - only proportionally.
