Brown in the shade? That's how it's done!

For a brown complexion nobody has to spend hours in the sun? it also damages the skin more than it uses. To tan, you can theoretically also sit in the shade. It depends on where the shadow lies.

To understand: The rays of the sun hit the Earth on the whole, only a fraction of it is UV radiation. UV-B rays cause browning, UV-A rays cause skin aging. However, UV-A and UV-B rays do not strike Earth and humans unhindered. They are broken, such as through clouds and suspended particles in the air, or reflected. Which results in our first rule for the shadow bath:

Rule 1: Always tan near water

Near a body of water you will turn brown faster, even if you are sitting in the shade under your parasol. The reason for this is the reflection of the rays from the water, so that their intensity is increased. Of course, the tanning in the shade takes much longer, but is more uniform and less burden on the body.

Rule 2: Prefer wide areas

If you also want to get brown in the shade, do it on a large area, for example in the park, on the beach or on the water. This is because the broken rays of the sun do not hit the earth directly, but from all sides to the earth. Shrubs, trees and houses would take the intensity of the sun's rays. On even surfaces, 30 to 40 percent of UV radiation is still in the shade? However, that depends on the time of day and the cloud layer. Which leads us to the third rule ...

Rule 3: Do not forget sunscreen

Since you get radiation in the shade, you also have to protect yourself with sunscreen. After the "shadow bath" it is also recommended to rub in with moisturizer. By the way: Even glass panes let through UV rays? plus the bad UV-A rays. Again, you should always look out for protection.
