Boyfriend Style: yes or no?

From a certain age you should not join any fashion trend anymore. Well, that's my opinion. Actually. But she is shaking. And more every day. Because I'm about to succumb to the new summer jeans trend 2009: the boyfriend. A pair of pants that look like they were stolen from the closet of your loved one, that is, some sizes too big to slap around your hips, thighs and waist. It has become an indispensable part of fashion magazines' photo spreads. It has been the standard outfit of fashion victims on the latest fashion shows from New York to Paris, and has paparazzi-documented boyfriend appearances by style icons like Katie Holmes, Reese Witherspoon and even Sarah Jessica Parker has long since achieved celebrity consecration. All this indicates that you need these pants u-n-b-e-d-i-n-g-t!

But: Well, that does not look good. On the contrary. The pants are thick. The extra holes worked as intentionally as dingy. And then the styling! Coolness via trouser leg shuffling - visually shortens the leg and I at least look like one of the singers of Dexy's Midnight Runners. Can anyone still remember that? It was 1982, the song was "Come on Eileen!" And the midnight runners hopped over sidewalks in rolled-up boyfriend dungarees. The outfit I found awful at that time. And today, a quarter of a century later, should I just go around the same way? The reason angel in my brain answers: "No, save you this unfavorable look!" But the fashion devil in the head screams loud and unceasingly: "want to want to have!"

The attempt of a compromise, namely me just to grab a pair of jeans from the cupboard of my boyfriends, unfortunately does not work either. Because for a few seasons he wears only slim and so his jeans are stuck on the middle of my thighs. And now? Now I am convinced that rules have only a right to exist, even if they are sometimes sovereign broken. I have to go shopping now and very, very urgently.
