Bear biscuits - almost too cute to eat

We do not usually tend to be girly, but the bear biscuits of Japanese chef Maa Tamagosan sparked a wave of ecstatic "Oooohs" and a pensive smile in the ChroniquesDuVasteMonde editorial board. The little teddy bears hugging nuts are just cute. Almost too cute to eat.

This also finds the enchanted network community, which turns over with praise. Maas original recipe in her blog Neol.jp is in Japanese, but in the meantime circulate various translations.

This is how the bear biscuits succeed

Mix 110 g flour, 20 g potato starch, a pinch of salt and cinnamon to taste. Add 40 g sugar beet syrup, 10 g honey and 30 g vegetable oil. Mix the solid and liquid dough ingredients until a dough is formed.

Place the almond on the punched biscuit and gently press the bear's arms around the almond until the bear hugs the almond.

Bake at 160 degrees for 10 minutes. When the cookies are dark, reduce heat to 150 degrees and bake for another 10 minutes.

Instead of almonds, the bears can also embrace walnuts or cashews.

Cookie cutters in bear form, for example, are available from Birkmann, in specialist shops or online, including via amazon.de.
