What exactly is Balayage?
Balayage is based on the French word "balayer", which means "to sweep". And so you can basically imagine the dyeing technique - the hair is once swept through with a brush. The whole thing happens freehand: The hairdresser selects the strands freely and then emphasizes them different degrees. As a result, the result looks particularly natural - the gentle color gradients bring momentum into the structure. Incidentally, the approach remains untreated so that the color gradient works. At what hair length does Balayage work?
The greatest effect is achieved with the balayage technique with medium-long or long hair. Basically, the longer the hair, the more dynamic accents can be set. As far as the color mix is concerned, everything is allowed. If you want to make the natural hair color look like the sun kissed, just choose a slightly lighter shade of color. This sets warm, natural-looking color reflexes and brings movement into the structure. The difference to Ombré
Balayage is often confused with Ombré, also known as dip-dye. Unlike freehand, Ombré uses foils. In addition, only the tips are lightened, usually the staining technique has strong contrasts between the colors and has quite hard edges. In the Balayge technique, on the other hand, the transitions are soft and fluid, which makes the whole look very natural.
How to care for Balayage
In most cases, the hair is bleached for the balayage technique, so one should apply a moisturizing hair mask once a week after the treatment. For especially dry tips, a few drops of hair care oil can work wonders every day. Otherwise Balayage is gentle on the hair and scalp, as the neck is not dyed.
