Avatar: Michelle Yeoh plays in the sequels

She remains true to outer space, even if she soon finds herself in an entirely different corner of it. Michelle Yeoh, 56, most recently in the Star Trek: Discovery series, is now part of the Avatar cast. According to the US-side "The Hollywood Reporter", James Cameron (64) personally announced this in a statement.

"In her career, Michelle has always created unique and memorable characters, and I'm looking forward to doing the same with Michelle in the 'Avatar' sequels," the site quotes the star director. Thus, Yeohs Part, who joined the same train as Dr. Karina Mogue was featured in up to four parts of the series - there are so many sequels to the 2009 sci-fi hit.

The first of them is scheduled for release in December 2020 and will feature the stars of the first part - Sam Worthington (42), Zoe Saldana (40) and Sigourney Weaver (69). In addition, it also Kate Winslet (43) can be seen, with which Cameron was known to celebrate already at "Titanic" a gigantic success.

But Star Trek fans do not have to grieve. Recently CBS officially confirmed that Yeoh's character, Captain Philippa Georgiou, will have his own spin-off to "Discovery", in which she embodies the central character.

Jemaine Clement joins cast of Avatar sequels (April 2024).
