At 20, Madonna dropped the covers: we've never seen them like that before
We know Madonna as a hard-hitting power woman who keeps herself and her body fit with extreme workouts. The result: A 58-year-old who is bursting with muscle! But that was not always so.
In the gallery Tantus at the Colonnaden in Hamburg, a series of nudes will be on display until the end of 2017, showing the pop diva at a young age. At the tender age of 20, Madonna left the covers for Martin Schreiber. "She said she is a dancer and her name is Madonna Ciccone", the New York photographer recalls in an interview.

At the time, the photographer was teaching nude photography at Parsons School, and paid the then 20-year-old to pose in front of 15 photography students.
She was one of the loveliest models I've ever photographed. The pictures have nothing to do with sex, they are a celebration of the human body.

How valuable these images would become, was probably not aware of either.
I do not know what she was thinking or who she was at the time. For me, she was just a pretty girl who followed my instructions. I never thought so, she was almost a bit shy.

Suddenly, the Playboy knocked on and expressed his interest in the photos, which finally brought Schreiber the breakthrough.
Today, the photographer dreams of photographing the pop diva again. Preferably just like it was almost 40 years ago.
She has a great figure and an amazing expression and today she is grown up. It would be interesting, because I often find a mature woman even more attractive than a young woman. The body changes and that is beautiful.
