Arrived at the menopause?

Menopausal symptoms look different: Actress Kim Cattral as Samantha.

Not only Doris Dörrie has discovered women in menopause as a topic for themselves. Also in the new feature film for the US hit series "Sex and the City" the menopause is spread medially. The four New Yorker friends Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha are over 40 and mostly under the hood. Only Samantha (Kim Cattrall), the eldest and sexiest of the quartet at age 52, is still single. She fights with iron discipline and a whole battalion of hormone preparations and moisturizers against the seemingly impending physical decay. "Because I'll guide you through the Menopause Labyrinth, with my vitamins, my melatonin sleeping goggles, my bioidentical estrogen cream, my progesterone cream - with a tiny touch of testosterone ..." - so she swears her girlfriends on the future.

Yet her libido is as great as her self-esteem. But when the ladies go to Abu Dhabi at the invitation of a super-rich sheikh and Samantha has to deliver her hormone cocktail at the airport, a true menopausal storm is brewing. The sweat flows in streams - which is not only due to the hot desert sun. And worst of all, there's nothing going on at Samantha's bottom. Even as the - caution, that is typical "Sex and the City" - cheeky well-built players of the Australian Rugby national team splash in the hotel pool, the otherwise anything but chaste Samantha is not in the mood.

Obviously, there is a need for action: So Samantha eats a plate of hummus mush, because that is said to be good for the hormone balance. And instead of complaining about the menopause, the girlfriends order her a speech ban. That works. The four not-so-young girls stomp on high heels and in constantly changing wardrobe through the emirate. And thanks to a daring Danish architect, Samantha still gets really excited. All's well, all goes well: In the city there will continue to be sex, Samantha is still irresistible at 52. And we think it's good that you can not only complain about menopause, but also laugh.
