8 Foundation mistakes that each of us has ever made

When we stand in front of the mirror in the morning and apply our make-up, we all certainly think: that looks quite passable. As soon as we leave the house and look into the next window, we notice that it does not. Crap! Why is that? Because we did not pay attention to these eight things in the Foundation assignment. And that will hopefully change from now on!

1. You are not preparing the skin

Applying foundation to the bare skin is not always a good idea. It is important that you ALWAYS use a skin care underneath. It does not matter if the make-up is moisturizing or skin-friendly. The result is blotchy and usually the product does not settle so nicely on the skin. However, the care should not be too greasy, otherwise the foundation slips on the skin back and forth. Many still resort to a primer after the care. Can be done, does not have to be. However, if you want better hold, a glowing base or more refined pores, you can definitely use them.

2. You use the wrong tool

You always wear your foundation for reasons of time with your hands? In principle, not bad at all. But you should note that you can not apply every product with the same tool. Depending on whether you work with a very light, fluid texture or with a high opacity, you should resort to different tools. So that the result does not become spotty, you should always apply Foundations first with a brush. If this is then too dull for you or the product is too "on the skin", you can work with a beauty sponge. You get even more opacity by applying some extra make-up with your hands.

3. You choose the wrong undertone

Have you ever wondered after makeup, why you suddenly look like Miss Piggy or Bart Simpson personally? For a foundation, not only does it matter how light or dark it is, it also counts for the right undertone. Because he is different for everyone. Generally, there are yellow, pink, olive or neutral skin tones. If your make-up tone does not match the color of your skin, the result can very quickly look terrible. Especially in the drugstore, it is often difficult to find the right undertone because of the limited choice - but it is definitely possible.

Before you buy, be sure to test the foundation on the neck (and not your hands!) And wait a few minutes. Many products oxidize and darken. Look at the color in the daylight - so you can see the undertone much better. You can get these foundations here in more than ten different nuances:

4. You do not know your skin type

If you have dry skin, you should not necessarily wear a mattifying foundation. Unless you want your skin to feel like the Sahara at the end of the day. No thanks! With impure and oily skin, on the other hand, matting, rather strongly opaque products are perfect, as they keep you longer longer and also cover pimples and discoloration. Lighter formulations and foundations that promise Glow are the better choice for dry skin. But as always, exceptions confirm the rule. It does not mean that people with dry skin can not wear strong covering products. You know, every home is different. Sometimes it's a great alternative to mix two foundations together to get the perfect result. Try it!

5. You take too much product

Much does not always help a lot - we only say Cake Face! If you make up, then prefer to use less product than too much. Often we misjudge the quantity and the result just looks glued over. Not nice! Depending on what you apply the make-up, you have to adjust the amount of product anyway. A sponge, for example, absorbs more product than a brush. Only put down in places where you need more opacity and do not apply multiple layers on a flat rate. Everyone sees that. So you not only save the trouble in the morning, but also money because the Foundation lasts longer.

6. You follow the wrong order

Cream products before powder products. If you have ever disregarded this rule, then you know what happens: You can put your make-up in the bin. When you apply cream over powder, it often breaks down the powder textures and these are again removed from the skin. And in the end you have a patchy face and partially uncovered places. That's exactly what we do not want. With a few exceptions - such as some cream highlighters - you should NEVER use the powder products first. So first wear Foundation, Concealer and Co. - and then you can continue with powder, blush and bronzer.

7. You make up in the wrong light

It's not really a good idea to make-up in front of the miniature bathroom mirror without light. Because as soon as you do not have a good light, you can not recognize colors or details when applying makeup. This usually ends in make-up margins or too much color. If you have no way to make-up in the daylight, then just try a daylight lamp. Meanwhile, there are even mirrors that have integrated lights or real beauty lights, such as the "My Beauty Light". That works wonders and takes your make-up game to a new level. No kidding!

8. You do not settle your make-up

What you do with your face according to the Foundation's mission is at least as important as what you do before it. Above all Foundation and Concealer should be settled after the order with powder. This is not a must, but it will keep your make-up much longer and you will not wipe it out of your face right away if you touch it. If you do not want to work your entire face with powder, you should at least dust off the T-Zone. Here we shine first as a rule. Our tip: Always have a transparent powder in your pocket - then nothing can happen on the go with your flawless face.
